1997 Nissan 200SX SE R
You might consider its style--flat expanses of sheet metal accented with sharp
creases--conventional but the 1997 Nissan 200SX SE R still makes itself attractive
to a lot of car enthusiasts. Although almost identical at a glance, the base 200SX,
SE and SE R have variations in style. At a closer look, you will notice side sill
extensions on the Nissan 200SX SE R. This top-level model also sports distinctive
five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels. An SE R badge is also placed on the trunk lid.
For the 1997 year model, the SE R comes with new rear spoiler. It has with leather-wrapped
steering wheel and shift knob, although it adopts trappings of SE. Adding convenience
to your ride is the remote keyless entry.
Under the hood, the SE R is evidently topping the Nissan 200SX model line-up
with the bigger and more powerful 2.0 L DOHC engine. It produces 140 horsepower
and a torque of 132lb-ft while the first two level trims hold 15-horsepower 1.6-liter
dual overhead-cam 16-valve four-cylinder engine. SE R's engine allows faster acceleration
(from 0-60 mph) and gives enough power to produce force that helps the car get
a jump on other cars during sudden stop. Fuel economy is 23 and 31 on city and
highway, respectively.
The 1997 Nissan 200SX SE R offers better handling with its thicker front anti-roll
bar, limited-slip differential and more aggressive tires. The front anti-roll
bar reduces body rolls in corners while its limited-slip differential reduces
front wheel spin as it transfers power to the tire. The SE R carries low-profile
195/55VR-15 Goodyear Eagle high-performance all-season tires on the its five-spoke
15-inch alloy rims.
